Man City player ratings - a 9/10 but one 4/10 as leaders struggle for form

Manchester City are many months away from trophy season but they have now played more than 10 games in the 2024/25 campaign.

Pep Guardiola has been able to have a look at his squad, leaning on some more heavily than others to guide the Blues through the start to their latest race for silverware. And if there is still a long way to go, it seems clear which have been the better players so far for City and who still has much room for improvement.

Nathan Ake, Oscar Bobb and Kaden Braithwaite have all played less than 100 minutes and so aren't included in the ratings. Otherwise, here are how Guardiola's stars have been marked for their efforts so far.

Ederson: Put an uncertain future behind him this summer to reinforce his position as No.1 with some good displays bolstered by excellent saves. 7

Ortega: Has already started in the Champions League as Guardiola looks to give him game time, but mostly a watching brief. 6

Lewis: His breakthrough came two years ago but this has been Lewis' push to be a regular starter and he has taken nearly every opportunity. 8

Walker: Lewis's form has raised more question marks over Walker, who has been at fault for goals this season in most of the games he has played. 4

Dias: Jumped straight in after the Euros and has been used regularly by Guardiola at the back. A solid start for him 7

Gvardiol: A few defensive issues have crept back into his game but he has been excellent going forward and his availability is also terrific 7

Stones: It doesn't feel like he has really got going yet after a slow start following the Euros.
