Man City plans for Oscar Bobb future amid transfer suggestions

Oscar Bobb's agent says the Manchester City youngster will not leave the club before Friday's transfer deadline, while the academy do not expect him to drop back down this season for game time.

Bobb has been the academy's Player of the Year for the last two seasons and has been rewarded for his fine form with a promotion to Pep Guardiola's senior squad.

The Norwegian featured in pre-season and impressed, but has not played any minutes so far in competitive games. With Cole Palmer expected to join Chelsea permanently and James McAtee potentially leaving on loan, there had been some suggestions that Bobb could also look for regular games out on loan.

However, agent Steven Howson, of ICM Stellar who represent Bobb, has told VG that while clubs have been interested in Bobb there are no plans for him to leave before Friday's transfer deadline.

“There’ll always be clubs interested in quality young players from Manchester City," he said. "But City have a plan with Oscar, they really like him and this season they want to see him develop around the first team.

“When you play with 22 other very good players, some of the best in the whole world, you have to learn and take steps in that environment. You have to be mentally strong and ready for those challenges every week. But it only makes you better and stronger in the end."

Meanwhile, Bobb's Under-21 coach Brian Barry-Murphy says that the academy are not expecting the forward to be available for the Elite Development Squad this season as this wouldn't be beneficial to the player.

"Oscar's obviously been a magical player for us, as good as I've seen any of my players in the academy," Barry-Murphy tells MEN Sport.
