Juanma Lillo gives Jeremy Doku Man City debut verdict and makes Oscar Bobb prediction

Manchester City's stand-in boss Juanma Lillo said the club are expecting "big things" from Oscar Bobb after the winger made a lively cameo on his first appearance for the club.

The 20-year-old was a late substitute in the 5-1 win against Fulham, but he still managed to show some flashes of his quality and Lillo said the Norwegian had earned his role in the matchday squad.

Bobb has been the Academy Player of the Year for two successive seasons and after remaining at the club during the transfer window he has earned a promotion to the senior ranks. He came into the squad against Fulham with Jack Grealish out and saw fellow debutant Jeremy Doku start the game, but when his chance came Bobb made an impression.

Lillo is a fan of Bobb's ability to take risks in a game but has called for patience despite his early promise in the first-team squad.

"We have great expectations for Oscar, he’s won his place in the side through talent, he’s very alive on the pitch, very daring, he’s someone who can play on the inside and the outside," said City's assistant, who has stood in for Pep Guardiola as he recovers from back surgery.

"But we need to be calm, we need to give him his time and he has to be patient himself and give himself that time, but it’s another great player we’ve got that’s come from the academy and we expect big things."

Doku, a £55million signing from Rennes, made his debut from the start and lasted 76 minutes before being replaced. There were some brief flashes of the dribbling ability that he is renowned for, but it was a low-key start.
