Man City owners strike deal with Sony Pictures over new football shows

City Football Group (CFG) have teamed up with Sony Pictures Television to create a 'new generation' of football-based programmes for all ages.

Manchester City's parent company CFG have come together with the TV giants to produce original series as well as exploring one-off documentaries, animated series and kids' programmes. The stories may relate directly to CFG clubs and players or just have football as the main theme.

The latest partnership builds on the success that City have had with their own production company, City Studios, that produces documentaries around the team as well as live shows around matchdays. The story of the Treble win over the 2022/23 season was bought by Netflix for a seven-figure sum.

It also continues CFG efforts to invest in entertainment following their major stake in a new music venue next to the Etihad, Co-op Live. City CEO Ferran Soriano intends the Sony partnership to allow City to be "even more dynamic" with their approach to content production, with the club already working on several series.
