Man City 'mulling over' move for Barcelona star and other transfer rumours

Manchester City are being linked with a shock move for Barcelona star Frenkie De Jong.

The treble winners have walked away from West Ham United star Declan Rice and did not land Jude Bellingham either. But, with Ilkay Gundogan having left the club and Bernardo Silva's future unclear, City are looking to bolster their midfield - despite landing Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea.

And The Sun reports that Pep Guardiola is 'mulling over' a push for Netherlands international De Jong - who is valued at £90million by the Spanish giants. De Jong was linked with a move to the Etihad in 2019 before Barcelona won the race for his signature. The player -who has also been heavily linked with Manchester United - is said to earn £400,000 a week, with three years left on his deal.

De Jong is supposedly happy at the Nou Camp, where he has the backing of manager Xavi. Barcelona's precarious financial position means that the 26-year-old could be sold though, in order to raise crucial funds.

In other news, City midfielder Lewis Fiorini is reportedly a transfer target for Bristol City. The Championship club - according to Football Insider - are chasing the 21-year-old's signature following his spell with Blackpool last season. Fiorini made 13 appearances for the Seasiders and made three goal contributions.

The Scotland youth international is under contract with City until 2026 and is said to be attracting interest from Swansea City and Reading too. The Premier League champions are - as per the report - considering whether to loan Fiorini out once again or sanction a permanent exit.
