Man City in line for £200m mega windfall as Champions League glory SIX games away

Man City will go from rich to richer if they retain their Champions League crown this season - with a total cash boost of more than £200MILLION on the line.

Last season's quadruple winners battled to a valuable 3-1 first leg win over Copenhagen on Tuesday night and will advance to the quarter-finals if they see out the second leg at home on March 6. It's a long way away but the Premier League champions, favourites to retain their domestic crown, will already have one eye on the Wembley final on June 1. And if they win that, they will bank £104.6m in prize money alone.

This season has also seen TV revenues rocket, smashing through the £100million barrier for the first time. City will take home the lion's share of the pot set aside for English sides after rivals Man United and Newcastle exited at the group stage, with Arsenal the only remaining English team in the Champions League.

The club defending itself against 115 Premier League allegations that they cooked the books have become the most financially successful in the world with their exploits on the pitch. Last season, City cashed in to the tune of £192.2million by becoming European champions for the first time, with £95million in prize money and a further £97.2million pouring into the coffers from broadcasters.

In total, they landed a world-record £300million prize-money bounty by lifting the Treble. That figure will spike even further if they become the first club to repeat the feat of winning the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup.

City are already £8.3million richer after lifting both the Club World Cup and European Super Cup this season.
