Jamal Musiala 'rejects' new Bayern Munich contract as Man City 'eye transfer'

Manchester City target Jamal Musiala has reportedly turned down a new Bayern Munich deal in hopes of a Premier League move.

City and Liverpool are believed to be at the front of the line for Musiala. Both English teams recently sent scouts to watch the German international play against Bayer Leverkusen.

At that time, Bayern's offer of a new £150,000-a-week contract for midfielder Musiala was still up for grabs. But it seems he has since told the Bundesliga giants he won't be signing it sparking rumours he will leave the club in July.

City found out about that decision last week and are feeling more and more sure they can win the race for the much-wanted Musiala, who turned 21 last week. But Liverpool aren't the only English team trying to mess up Pep Guardiola's plans to get the playmaker, who has played for Germany 25 times.

Chelsea are also very interested in their former youth player. They are expected to join the race as soon as the transfer window opens at the end of the season, reports The Daily Star.

However, unless they make it into the Europa League by winning the FA Cup, the Blues don't stand much chance of convincing Musiala to pick Stamford Bridge over the Etihad or Anfield. Bayern's Musiala still has two years left on his contract and will cost a minimum of £80m, plus his weekly wages are expected to be around £200,000.

At the end of the season, current Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel will be leaving the club which could impact Musiala's future.
