Man City Ilkay Gundogan transfer stance after Barcelona bombshell

Ilkay Gundogan could make a sensational return to Manchester City just a year after leaving on a free transfer.

Earlier this month Gundogan's agent and uncle Ilhan Gundogan sought to end speculation around his future, stating that "Ilkay's position is very clear: he will stay in Barcelona." Head coach Hansi Flick said at the weekend that his feeling was that the player would remain at the club.

However, reports from Spain since paint a picture of Barcelona being clear that Gundogan - one of their best players last season - was not part of their plans as they look to manage their financial position.
