Man City hero Kevin De Bruyne picks dream Premier League five aside line up

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has revealed who he would choose in a Premier League five-a-side team — and Cristiano Ronaldo was not one of them.

The Belgian was not allowed to pick more than one player from each team, meaning he could not include another City player alongside himself. Instead he went with N’Golo Kante.

The Chelsea midfielder has been linked with an outside move to rivals Manchester United under new boss Erik ten Hag. The Frenchman had a frustrating season with injuries, but it seems Thomas Tuchel still doesn’t want to lose the lynchpin.

De Bruyne also wanted to include Edouard Mendy but with Kante in the team, he had to pick another goalkeeper. He went for Wolves shot-stopper Jose Sa, who he described as “really good”.

Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk was chosen as the defender and Harry Kane was selected to lead the line. Explaining his choices to Copa90, he said: “I would take Van Dijk. Kante. I’ll take Harry Kane. Then put myself in for Man City purposes. I would say this year, Jose Sa. I think he was really good.”

Notable omissions aside from Ronaldo, who scored 24 goals for United this season, are golden boot winners Mo Salah and Son Heung-min also missed out, De Bruyne preferring to pick their teammates ahead of them.
