Man City handed new 115 charges verdict deadline in latest Premier League twist

Manchester City are now reportedly set to discover their fate regarding the alleged breaches of financial rules much earlier than previously anticipated.

Since September, the Blues have been embroiled in a hearing with an independent Premier League panel over what was initially thought to be 115 breaches of historic financial rules. City were charged in February 2023 over their alleged actions between 2009 and 2018.

After much confusion, it is now thought City have been accused of over 100 breaches of alleged financial wrongdoing. The Blues have always maintained their innocence and stressed they were in receipt of indisputable evidence of no wrongdoing.

In the background, the club has also been involved in a lengthy legal battle with the Premier League over their Associated Party Transaction (APT) regulations. The Blues argued that these rules broke the UK's competition laws.

The Premier League's argument was that APT is used to avoid owners of football clubs massively inflating the value of sponsorship deals to avoid sanctions. That separate independent panel ruled in City's favour on two key points which they believe undermine the entirety of APT.

Following the APT verdict, City could soon find out the verdict on their alleged financial breaches. The Athletic reports on Thursday that the club are now expecting to hear their fate before the end of the year.
