Man City handed massive Rodri boost for Premier League title run-in

Manchester City kept up the pressure at the top of the Premier League with a come from behind victory at Crystal Palace.

The Blues trailed to an early goal but roared back to win 4-1 and move level on points with leaders Liverpool ahead of the Merseysiders' trip to Manchester United on Sunday. Pep Guardiola was able to rest a handful of players with Tuesday's Champions League quarter final first leg tie in Real Madrid in mind with Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva among those left out.

Given City are fighting for silverware on three fronts as they chase a double treble, squad rotation is likely to play a key role in the run-in. Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne were left out for the midweek win over Aston Villa but one player rarely afforded a day off is Rodri given how important the midfielder is for City.

And the Blues have been handed a boost after the Spaniard came through the weekend win without collecting a yellow card. Rodri sits on eight bookings this season and any player who picks up ten in the first 32 matches is handed a two-game ban.

With City having now played 31, the midfielder will escape any suspension. Players are given a three game ban if they reach 15 yellow cards but Rodri would only reach that figure on the final day of the season and it would require him being booked in all seven of City's remaining fixtures.

No other City player is at risk of a ban while of their title rivals, Liverpool have Darwin Nunez and Waturo Endo on eight yellow cards ahead of the trip to Old Trafford. Arsenal's Kai Havertz is also on eight cautions
