Man City goalkeeper Ederson withdraws from Brazil squad with injury
Manchester City No.1 Ederson has withdrawn from Brazil's squad for their upcoming internationals through injury. The shot-stopper picked up a problem in his left foot in Sunday’s 4-4 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The severity of the problem and a timeframe for his return have not yet been outlined. Ederson has been Brazil’s first-choice pick since the 2022 World Cup, edging ahead of Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker. He has played in all four of his country’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers but his run is set to end.
The 30-year-old has missed just one Premier League game this season, being benched for the 2-1 home win over Brighton when Pep Guardiola decided to rest him following long travels with Brazil during the last international break.

Ederson played the full match against Chelsea at the weekend despite picking up his problem. City have a number of tricky league fixtures in the pipeline.
The first game back from the break sees the champions welcome Liverpool to the Etihad before Tottenham come to town the following weekend ahead of a trip to Aston Villa three days later.
The Blues host RB Leipzig in the Champions League in the days after the Liverpool clash having already qualified for the knockouts. City will hope Ederson will be able to recover within the 12 days ahead of the visit of Jurgen Klopp’s men.
