Man City get nine nominations for FIFA Best awards including Haaland, Guardiola and Ederson

Manchester City have nine nominations across four categories in the FIFA The Best awards for 2023.

Erling Haaland has already won Men's Player of the Year, while Pep Guardiola was named Men's Coach of the Year at the UEFA annual awards, while the Blues feature heavily on the Ballon d'Or nominations. Now, the club have five men's players up for the FIFA The Best Player of the Year, while two of the women's team are on the shortlist.

Guardiola is once again up for FIFA Men's Coach of the Year, while Ederson is among the nominees for the FIFA Men's Goalkeeper of the Year.

The Men's Player of the Year nominees for City are World Cup-winner Julian Alvarez, top goalscorer Erling Haaland, talisman Kevin De Bruyne, Champions League-winning goalscorer Rodri, and the brilliant Bernardo Silva.

They will compete with Marcelo Brozovic, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Victor Osimhen, and Declan Rice. Former City captain Ilkay Gundogan completes the list after swapping the Etihad for Barcelona in the summer.

On the women's list City pair Mary Fowler and Alex Greenwood are on a list of quality nominees that features former midfielder Keira Walsh, WSL rivals Sam Kerr, Lauren James, Rachel Daly and Caitlin Foord, while World Cup stars Aitana Bonmati, Linda Caicedo, Jennifer Hermoso, Salma Paralluelo and new Manchester United signing Hinata Miyazawa are all on the list.

Guardiola will compete with Inter Milan's Simone Inzaghi, Barcelona boss Xavi, new Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou and Italy boss Luciano Spalletti.
