Man City fined £120,000 after players surrounded referee vs Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester City have been handed a £120,000 fine by the FA after an incident involving their players and referee Simon Hooper during the 3-3 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

As the contest headed into the dying stages against Spurs, Erling Haaland picked out a pass to send Jack Grealish through on goal. However, Hooper decided to pull the game back for a foul in the build-up and awarded the Blues a free kick.

City's players were incensed by the decision in the 94th minute of the match and surrounded the match official. Haaland was notably angered by the call and spouted his frustration on social media after the game.

In a statement on Monday afternoon, the FA announced they had decided City's punishment. They announced: "Manchester City have been fined £120,000 after their players surrounded a match official during the Premier League game vs Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, December 3.

"Manchester City admitted they failed to ensure their players did not behave in an improper way during the 94th minute. An independent Regulatory Commission imposed this sanction following a hearing."

Following the incident, Guardiola said: "We behaved incredibly this season. How we behaved in our not good results or decisions, even after the game and the comments from my players accepting we can do better, is what I want to see from my team and my club.

"After that, we'll accept all the decisions from the Premier League or whatever." City are currently in Saudi Arabia for the FIFA Club World Cup which kicks off against Urawa Red Diamonds on Tuesday.
