Man City fans brutally mock Steven Gerrard after extraordinary comeback vs Aston Villa

Manchester City fans brutally mocked Steven Gerrard at full time after an extraordinary comeback against his Aston Villa side on Sunday.

City knew that a victory would be enough to secure the Premier League title. However, the Blues fans' party was soon being ruined as Matty Cash and Philippe Coutinho gave Villa a commanding lead at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola's team were still top due to Liverpool only drawing with Wolves, but they soon ensured they no longer needed to rely on results elsewhere. Ilkay Gundogan scored twice with Rodri bagging a sensational equaliser in between to send the Etihad crowd into raptures.

Gundogan's second of the game was needed in the end as Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson scored late on to give Liverpool the victory they needed to keep the pressure on, but it would all be in vain. Talk prior to the match surrounded Gerrard who, as a Reds legend, could help his former side win the title.

Despite Gerrard's insistence that he was only interested in getting a result to boost Villa's league position, City fans were still quick to mock him at full time. As supporters ran onto the pitch, chants of a song mocking Gerrard's slip against Chelsea in 2014 could be heard being belted out by the City faithful.
