Man City fans broke goal during pitch invasion after winning Premier League title

Manchester City clinched the 2021-22 Premier League title in remarkably dramatic fashion on Sunday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s side were in danger of blowing it after going 2-0 down against Aston Villa with 20 minutes left on the clock.

Goals either side of half-time from Matty Cash and Philippe Coutinho stunned City and gave Liverpool real hope of finishing the day as champions of England.

But City secured their fourth league title in five seasons thanks to three goals in five crazy second-half minutes.

Ilkay Gundogan pulled a goal back for the hosts before Rodri equalised. Gundogan then netted the crucial goal that sealed victory – and the title – for City.

Liverpool also came from behind to win, securing a 3-1 win over Wolves at Anfield, but the result wasn’t enough to see them crowned Premier League champions.

City’s 2022 title win may not have been quite as dramatic as 2012, but it wasn’t far off.

A pitch invasion ensued when the final whistle was blown and one of City’s goals didn’t survive the chaos.

Footage captured from journalist Julien Laurens shows City’s crossbar creaking under the weight of several City fans before eventually giving way.
