It feels like normalcy will return to Manchester City in the upcoming transfer window.

Last year saw a summer of sweeping change at the Ethiad as four players crucial to the success under Pep Guardiola - Fernandinho, Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Aleks Zinchenko - left for pastures new with Kalvin Phillips, Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez and Manuel Akanji coming in to take their place.

Not only did City say goodbye to several experienced heads but the arrival of Norwegian sensation Haaland signalled a completely new approach on the pitch was on the horizon. It's no surprise, especially in a season disrupted by the World Cup, that the Blues have taken some time to click and get back to their steamrolling best.

Which is why a year of steady evolution with few signings and hopefully few departures is on the cards for City rather than complete revolution. Even still, it could prove to be an expensive one.

Midfield is the one area City could do with strengthening with fresh blood as Ilkay Gundogan is 32 and is still out of contract in a few months, Kevin De Bruyne will be 31 when the next season starts, Bernardo Silva has looked to return to mainland Europe for years and Phillips hasn't settled yet. To avoid any potential disasters a young and talented midfielder is required and there isn't a hotter prospect than Jude Bellingham.

The teenager is already one of the best in the world and looks like he could leave Borussia Dortmund this year. Real Madrid are set to be interested but City must be a tempting proposition as well, given the allure of working with Guardiola, playing in the Premier League and reuniting with Haaland. But
