Man City dealt injury blow ahead of Aston Villa clash

Manchester City could be without Jeremy Doku for Wednesday's trip to Aston Villa after the winger looked to have picked up an injury against Tottenham.

Doku started ahead of Jack Grealish on Sunday evening and enjoyed plenty of success against Tottenham's risky tactics. But the Belgian's influence waned after half-time and he was removed on 52 minutes.

The 21-year-old was limping slightly as he left the pitch and cut a dejected figure as he was replaced by Grealish. City head to Villa Park on Wednesday for the second of three games in a week in a hectic festive schedule.

Before the game Roy Keane insisted Doku was undroppable, adding: "Pep doesn’t mess about and he isn’t happy with what Jack is producing. [Doku is a] different type of player and he’s in good form."

Doku could join Rodri and Grealish in watching Wednesday's game from the sidelines after the pair both picked up a fifth yellow card against Tottenham. Rodri was booked for bringing down Pedro Porro on the counter-attack while Grealish was adjudged to have kicked the ball away on the hour mark, stopping a free-kick.

Jamie Carragher was on commentary duties at the Etihad and was concerned that City will be without the suspended pair for a tough game. "You know how tough of a game Aston Villa is even with a full team, now Rodri and Jack Grealish are out," he said.
