Manchester United suffer injury blow ahead of West Ham as five players given Rasmus Hojlund challenge

Manchester United have been given a fresh set of worries ahead of Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off against West Ham.

Erik ten Hag revealed on Friday that a number of players have been ill this week and face a late availability call, while Victor Lindelof has undergone recent surgery on an unspecified injury. He is thought to be sidelined for at least the near future as a result.

The manager also addressed the form of Rasmus Hojlund, who is yet to score in 13 Premier League games. He has underlined his faith in the 20-year-old Dane and singled out five players who can help him break his barren run.

United have some fresh doubts over players ahead of their trip to face West Ham in the Premier League, while Lindelof is set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines following surgery.

Ten Hag revealed a number of players had suffered from illness this week and are now in a race against the clock to be fit for the match on Saturday lunchtime. Lindelof has undergone surgery for a recent unspecified injury issue while Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez are both expected to be back in action next month.

"We have some doubts, some illnesses during the week," he told reporters at his pre-match press conference.
