Man City could soon unleash their next superstar - and Pep Guardiola loves him

Manchester City's squad is getting younger.

Kevin De Bruyne is on his way out of the Etihad at 33 and 34-year-old Kyle Walker will likely follow. The likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Ederson and Stefan Ortgea are the other 30-somethings in the Blues squad and all face uncertain futures.

The January window saw a flurry of new talent arrive with a clear focus on the long-term. Omar Marmoush was the elder statesman of the winter signings at 25 while Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis could become mainstays at City for years to come.

More are expected to follow in the summer but Pep Guardiola doesn't have to get the chequebook out to help the City rebuild. The club's academy has long been a conveyor belt of talent and this year is no exception.

City booked their place in the FA Youth Cup final on Thursday night with a win over Watford, setting up a showdown with Aston Villa next month. And it's one of last season's cup-winning heroes who is making strides.

Jaden Heskey has impressed this term. He's a regular in the Premier League 2 Under-21 team and has caught the eye in a swashbuckling side who top the standings.

The son of former England and Liverpool man Emile featured for City in their pre-season tour of America last season, coming off the bench against Barcelona.

His brother Reigan, three years younger and more of a central striker, has been making the headlines for the youth team this term but Jaden has made the leap up a level. And he's caught the eye of Pep Guardiola in the progress.

“Jaden has shown immense potential and versatility," said the Etihad chief. "He is capable of playing both as a No.10 and as a striker. His progression is something we are keenly monitoring.”
