Man City could revolutionise Kevin De Bruyne position to free Phil Foden

Pep Roulette is such a fixture in football minds that it's almost a surprise it's not spawned a spin-off game.

The Manchester City manager has regularly rotated since taking charge of the club, with great success. He's generally worked with a small but high-calibre squad and with so much quality at his disposal, he can't fit it all in.

Injuries this season have seen a more regular starting XI but with Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku and Kevin De Bruyne all now on the road back to fitness there are attacking options aplenty. Guardiola may well not start any of that trio at Newcastle United this weekend given their paucity of match minutes but it is only a matter of time before just must answer difficult selection questions.

Phil Foden is in the form of his life in a central role, Julian Alvarez has been crucial to City since arriving while Bernardo Silva is consistency personified. Throw Jack Grealish into the mix as well and City have a selection quandary on the horizon.

The Foden question is the most pertinent given his desire to play centrally and the stunning run of form he is on. Guardiola hinted the England international and De Bruyne could play as a pair of number 10s after the cup win over Huddersfield but that isn't something we can expect to see too often.

The consensus is that De Bruyne, one of the best in the business, will return to his creative home and Foden will battle Doku and Grealish for a wide role.
