Man City confirm star to miss Chelsea clash, plus Oscar Bobb timeframe and Jack Grealish update

Oscar Bobb faces a three or four months spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a fractured leg this week.

Bobb suffered a freak injury in training this week to rule him out of the start of the season. He had been the standout performer in pre-season and had been set to start City's new campaign on the right wing to allow other senior internationals time to return from holiday.

But having travelled to Barcelona for surgery, Pep Guardiola said he hopes that Bobb will be out for only three or four months. A full diagnosis will be confirmed after Bobb's surgery on Friday.

"It was in the training session. Unfortunately had a big impact. I think it will be surgery this afternoon and hopefully he is going to be well and back as soon as possible in three, four months," the boss revealed.

"We are so sad for him, but not because he made an amazing pre-season, it doesn’t matter about that. When the injury is long-term it is a problem. We are looking forward to seeing him again as soon as possible. Good recovery and that’s all."

Meanwhile, Jack Grealish could be fit for the Premier League opener at Chelsea this weekend - but Rodri has 'no chance' of playing.

Another who had been pencilled in to begin the season in the starting line up, Grealish suffered a minor setback in the build-up to the Community Shield and didn't travel to Wembley for the win over Manchester United last weekend.

Now, Guardiola says Bobb is the only player not fit to play against Chelsea, suggesting Grealish is fit and available.
