Man City Champions League draw LIVE as Pep Guardiola discovers group stage opponents

Manchester City will discover who they will be facing in the group stages of this season's UEFA Champions League on Thursday.

The Blues will be hoping to go a couple of steps better than the last campaign having been knocked out in the semi-finals to eventual winners Real Madrid. Europe's top prize is now the only accolade that stands in Pep Guardiola's way from winning the lot with City.

In the summer, Guardiola has spent wisely to improve his side with the most notable signing being Erling Haaland. The Norwegian has started the season well with three goals in as many matches for his new club.

32 teams have made it to the group stages of the elite competition. Some clubs like City have qualified automatically for the draw due to their domestic league finishes.

However, this week several teams in pot four earned their spot in the draw including Rangers who beat PSV Eindhoven 1-0 on the night to progress to the group stage. Although we do not know exactly who they will face, we do know the teams they will not come against.

City cannot be drawn against any team who are also in pot one, this includes Real Madrid, Eintracht Frankfurt, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, PSG, FC Porto and Ajax. They also cannot face any side from the same federation until the quarter-finals so Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur will be avoided too.
