Man City boss Pep Guardiola admits he will support Manchester United in Liverpool FC fixture

Pep Guardiola will be sitting down in front of his TV and watching Liverpool vs Manchester United on Tuesday night - and admits he will be hoping for a positive result for United.

Liverpool can leapfrog Manchester City before the Blues face Brighton on Wednesday, but a win against United isn't guaranteed even though Ralf Rangick's side are on an inconsistent run. With City not in action on Tuesday, Guardiola was asked if he would be following the Liverpool game.

In response, he said he would be watching the game as a fan, and hoped for Liverpool to drop points. Regardless of the score, though, Guardiola said his side must be focused on the Brighton result and do their own part in the title race.

"We watch it as a fan. I watch at home, I have time tomorrow to focus." Guardiola told reporters.

"I would love United to take points but we have to do our job next game and then the next one, I will watch as a fan and see if I can learn something about both teams."

On the title race in general, Guardiola again reiterated the desire for City to focus on themselves and nobody else.

"The challenge is the same as the last two weeks, the same, one points ahead," he said, also showering praise on opponents Brighton.

"Every game a final, challenge and fight until the end.

"[Brighton] don't need to win at Arsenal and Spurs to know they are a good side. I have a lot of admiration for them, for Graham Potter how they play, their results. A good test for us."
