Man City 'attracted to Ajax's attacking midfield wonderkid' and other transfer rumours

Manchester City are reportedly interested in making a move for Ajax's next wonderkid Gabriel Misehouy.

The 18-year-old has yet to make an appearance for the senior Amsterdam team however he has been cooking a storm this season in the Dutch second tier. In eight matches, the attacking midfielder has bagged five goals and two assists which has caught the attention of the Blues.

According to Dutch news outlet AD, Ajax are struggling to tie Misehouy down to a new deal and Voetbal International understands this has alerted the attention of City. But as journalist Tim van Duijn explains, Pep Guardiola will have to fight tooth and nail to get the deal over the line.

He wrote in Voetbal International: "Ajax hopes to keep Gabriel Misehouy out of the hands of Manchester City. The player himself wants nothing more than to succeed in Amsterdam.

"Although Manchester City are attracted to him, it is expected that Ajax will want to reach an agreement with him in the short term."

Elsewhere, two Premier League clubs are reportedly willing to battle Juventus for the signature of Kalvin Phillips in January. Tuttomercatoweb understands both Newcastle and West Ham United are firmly in the race for the 27-year-old.

Phillips is believed to be 'desperate' for game time in the second half of the season with Euro 2024 around the corner. City are claimed to be willing to sell in January for approximately £43m but none of the three teams are interested in splashing that sort of cash in the winter.
