Man City 2-1 Brighton highlights as goals from Alvarez and Haaland earn win despite Akanji red

Manchester City return to Premier League action on this afternoon as they take on Brighton and Hove Albion.

City find themselves in the rare position of a losing streak having suffered back-to-back league defeats to Wolves and Arsenal before the international break. Pep Guardiola will want to bring that to an end against the visiting Seagulls.

The Blues have been boosted ahead of the match with Rodri available following his three-match suspension. John Stones is also in contention to make his first start of the season after playing 90 minutes over two games for England during the international break.

Guardiola has no fresh injury concerns and has a near-fully fit squad to choose from other than Kevin De Bruyne. The brilliant Belgian remains sidelined with a hamstring injury and there's no update as of yet on when he will be fit again.

Ake replaced Alvarez as City prepare for a late onslaught. Akanji misses the derby.

Akanji picks up a second yellow card and City are down to 10 men for the remaining minutes.
