Man City player ratings vs Young Boys as John Stones and Erling Haaland star

Manchester City confirmed their place in the Champions League knockout stages with a stroll of a 3-0 win over Young Boys at the Etihad Stadium. City qualify with two games to spare and can confirm top spot in Group G with a point against RB Leipzig on the next matchday.

Erling Haaland gave City the lead midway through the first half with a penalty, then Phil Foden's clinical run and shot doubled the lead shortly before half time. Haaland put the game to bed soon after the break with a ferocious left-foot drive, and Young Boys' misery was complete when Sandro Lauper's rash tackle on Nathan Ake saw him sent off for a second yellow card.

Here's how we rated the Blues ...

Ederson: Nothing to do, aside from throw a rogue firework off the pitch in the second half. 6

Walker: Came in after Akanji pulled out in the warmup with illness and breezed through an hour. 7

Dias: Made an important challenge in the first half from one of the only forays forward Young Boys managed. 7

Gvardiol: Tidy again, keeping his side locked down with ease and linking well with Grealish further forward. 7

Kovacic: Some good passes through the lines, some overhit ones. Seemed to enjoy pushing up close to the box. 6

Stones: Slotted in seamlessly as the Rodri filler for the night, although strange that he didn't come out for the second half. 8

Lewis: Energy and creativity in the middle before moving out wide, showing more with each game. 7

Nunes: Like Kovacic, still getting to grips with the tempo in midfield but some nice touches and won the penalty. 7

Foden: A wasteful start but grew into the game and took his goal really well, adding to his confidence levels. 7

Grealish: Put on notice by Doku and responded with a lovely assist for Foden. Did everything
