Man City 115 FFP charges latest as points deduction 'insufficient' as club reassure players

The independent hearing into Manchester City's 115 alleged breaches of Premier League financial fair play rules started on Monday.

City have been charged with breaking FFP regulations over a nine-year period, which started in 2009 following the Abu Dhabi United Group takeover and went on until 2018. It's anticipated that the hearing will last around two months, but the verdict is not expected to be made public until spring 2025 at the earliest.

If the Premier League come out on top and win the court case, their punishment could be massive. A points deduction of up to 100 points has been mooted as well as potential expulsion from the top-flight altogether, though that possibility is some way down the line at this stage.

Another seven charges are for breaching the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability (PSR) rules from 2015/16 until 2017/18, while the final 35 charges are for failing to co-operate with Premier League investigations from December 2018 until February 2023.
