Man charged with 'intentional strangulation on a police officer' after incident in north Manchester

A man is due to appear in court accused of 'intentional strangulation on a police officer' following an incident in north Manchester.

Jack Harrison, 28, has been charged with two counts of the alleged offence on August 24 (Saturday). He has also been charged with assault on an emergency worker, dangerous driving, driving without a seatbelt, driving without insurance and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Harrison, of Gildersdale Drive, Blackley, will appear at Manchester Crown Court on Friday (August 30), according to Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

In a post on the GMP City Centre Facebook page this evening, officers wrote: "Jack Harrison (21/06/1996) of Gildersdale Drive, has been charged with two counts of intentional strangulation on a police officer, assault on an emergency worker, dangerous driving, driving without a seatbelt, driving without insurance and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

"He will appear at Manchester Crown Court on 30th August 2024. The charge comes following an investigation by City of Manchester North Response team and City of Manchester North District Investigations Team into an incident which occurred on 24 August 2024 after officers spotted a vehicle in Blackley."
