Man charged over alleged attacks on women in Stockport

A man has been charged over three alleged assaults in Stockport last month. It follows reported incidents near Cheadle Royal Business Park and in Heald Green on Wednesday, July 5.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said they received reports a woman had been assaulted close to the business park around 8.40am. They then received two further reports that people had been assaulted in neighbouring Heald Green.

The force said following the incidents that one woman suffered 'serious' injuries, another woman suffered 'minor' injuries, and a third was uninjured.

They have today announced that a 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incidents. Ali Naseem-Akbar has been charged with common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and assault causing grievous bodily harm they said.

Mr Naseem-Akbar, of no fixed abode, is due to appear before Tameside Magistrates Court today (Thursday, August 3).
