Man bitten by his own dog at home then turned on emergency services who arrived to help him

An 'aggressive' man smashed a beer bottle at an ambulance as paramedics tried to treat him for a dog bite.

Paramedics were first called to Elm Drive in Stretford to reports of a man 'being attacked by his own dog at home'. When crews arrived, he was 'intoxicated and abusive'.

They tried to treat him in the ambulance but he smashed a beer bottle on the wingmirror of the vehicle. Police were then called to the scene.

The man was found upstairs and was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and assaulting an emergency worker. He was taken to hospital, where he was referred to a plastic surgeon due to the bite on his arm.

The dog, which was found in the garden, was seized by officers under the Dangerous Dogs Act. It was taken to 'secure kennels'.

Police posted about the incident - which happened on December 3 - on the GMP Trafford South Facebook page yesterday. An officer wrote: "Male arrested in Stretford for Criminal damage and Public Order recently.

"A male has phoned for an ambulance after being attacked by his own dog at home. Upon the crew arriving the caller was found to be intoxicated and abusive.

"They have tried to treat the male but had to retreat into the ambulance after being in fear of him. The male has then thrown a bottle of beer at the ambulance causing damage to the wing mirror and so police called.
