Man accused of Christmas Eve pub shooting due to stand trial

A man accused of shooting a beautician outside a pub on Christmas Eve will start his trial soon.

Connor Chapman, 23, has been charged with the murder of Elle Edwards, 26. Edwards was shot and killed outside the Lighthouse pub in Wallasey Village, Wirral, on December 24 last year.

He also faces a charges for the attempted murder of Jake Duffy and Kieran Salkeld, three counts of wounding with intend to do grievous bodily harm against Harry Loughran, Nicholas Speed and Liam Carr. He is also charged with possession of a converted Skorpion submachine gun as well as possession of ammunition with intent to endanger life alongside the handling of stolen goods between December 22 and 26.

Champan, of no fixed address, will stand trial alongside co-defendant Thomas Waring, 20, of Private Drive, Barnston, Wirral. Waring is charged with possession of a Skorpion submachine gun and assisting an offender by aiding in the disposal of a car allegedly used by Chapman following the shooting.

The Liverpool Crown Court trial is expected to last between three and four weeks.
