Man, 64, suffers head injuries after group burst into his home in 'terrifying' burglary

A 64-year-old suffered head injuries after a 'group of men' entered his home before stealing his cash. Greater Manchester Police says the man was rushed to hospital for treatment to serious injuries he suffered during the 'terrifying ordeal'.

The force is investigating the incident as an aggravated burglary. Officers were called out to the property on Ashton Road in Golborne, Wigan, at around 6pm last Tuesday, November 28.

GMP says that following initial enquiries, detectives believe that a group of men entered the property. They then took a large amount of cash and caused injury to the victim, the force says.

It is now urging anyone with information or video footage from the time of the incident to come forward as detectives continue their enquiries. Detective Chief Inspector Hayley Riley, from GMP’s Wigan District, said: "This was an absolutely terrifying ordeal for the victim who was simply at home on the evening.

“We have a dedicated team working on this and would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area. We would ask that anyone who has any information at all, or anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage to please contact police on 0161 856 3034, quoting log 2680 of November 28, 2023."
