Manhunt underway after group 'targeted' in terrifying shooting before suspect flees scene in car

A manhunt is underway after a group of men were 'targeted' in a terrifying shooting in Ardwick on Thursday afternoon (December 21).

Police were called to Stockport Road (A6), near to the McDonald's and O2 Apollo at around 3pm to reports of gunshots being fired.

It was reported that a group of males, whose ages are not known, were targeted by another man who then fled the scene in a car. There were no reports of injuries but another car was damaged during the incident.

Chief Inspector Chris Boyd, from GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “This is clearly an extremely concerning incident, and I want to reassure the local community that a number of extensive enquiries are ongoing as we seek those responsible.

"We are putting in significant resources to thoroughly investigate this incident and those who live nearby can expect to see an increased police presence in the coming days.
