Man, 33, arrested and charged following armed robbery at Stockport store

A man has been arrested and charged after an armed robber threatened a cashier and stole £300 from a shop in Stockport. David Crielly, 33, of Pendlebury Towers, Stockport has been charged on suspicion of robbery and possession of a bladed article following the incident that took place on Wednesday (10/8/22).

Police say that they were called to reports of an armed robbery at the shop on Manchester Road in Heaton Chapel at around 8pm. According to police a man entered the store and made threats to the cashier with a knife and stole £300 worth of cash and tobacco before making off.

Crielly attended Manchester and Salford Magistrates court today (Saturday 20 August 2022). GMP's Heaton and Reddish Division said: "We have arrested and charged a 33-year-old man for the armed robbery of a store on Manchester Road, Heaton Chapel in Stockport. At approximately 8pm on Wednesday 10 August 2022 officers were called to reports of an armed robbery at a premises on Manchester Road, Heaton Chapel.

"The male entered the store, threatened the cashier with a knife and stole £300 worth of cash and tobacco from the store and made off. Today, a 33-year-old man has since been arrested and charged.

"David Crielly (28/07/1989) of Pendlebury Towers, Stockport has been charged with robbery and possession of a bladed article.

"We would like to thank members of the public for their assistance in this investigation and for engaging with our appeals for information."
