Man, 28, rants at judge as he's sentenced for trying to kill police officer with knife and Molotov cocktail

A man with a grudge against authority, who attacked officers outside a Welsh police station armed with a Molotov cocktail, a knife and a hatchet, has been sentenced to life in prison.

Alexander Dighton ranted at the judge sentencing him as he appeared in court over his attack on three police officers at Talbot Green police station in Rhondda Cynon Taf, on January 31. During the attack, he stabbed one in the leg and knocking another unconscious.

The 28-year-old told the Old Bailey: "I don’t care about myself being noticed. Fame is not important to me. What I think is important is having a conversation about where Britain is right now... You have grooming gangs and Boris Johnson having parties in lockdown. Open corruption. You have the Tavistock clinic mutilating children."

Dighton, of Llantrisant, Rhondda Cynon Taf, was sentenced to life with a minimum term to serve of 22 years and 235 days, and was told he would not be considered for parole until served 21 years and 235 days.

One of the officers told the sentencing in London that their life had changed without question. Police officer Steph Fleming, who was not supposed to be in the station on the night of the attack, said: " I could not stop thinking about how close I was to getting killed.”

The 28-year-old previously pleaded guilty to 10 charges, including attempted murder, relating to the incident at a hearing before the Old Bailey in March.

On the night of the attack, he arrived at the police station shortly before 7pm, where he lit a petrol bomb and threw it at a police van.

When that failed to ignite, he attempted to start a fire by pouring lighter
