Man, 23, arrested after Audi hits pedestrian and flips onto roof during police chase

A 23-year-old driver has been arrested after a car hit a pedestrian and flipped onto its roof during a police chase.

The A6 Stockport Road in Levenshulme was closed off last night, Monday October 10, from around 10.30pm until around 1.40am this morning, October 11, after a black Audi was involved in a collision with a pedestrian, according to Cheshire Police. Pictures of the crash showed the vehicle had come to rest on its roof, with police and firefighters quickly at the scene.

According to emergency services, no serious injuries were sustained, although firefighters did have to extinguish a small vehicle fire. Cheshire Police, who initiated the pursuit which led to the crash, told the Manchester Evening News that the car had "collided with a pedestrian" before coming to a stop. The pedestrian escaped with just minor injuries.

The driver of the Audi, a 23-year-old man from Manchester, has been arrested on suspicion of SEVEN offences, including taking a vehicle without consent, possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs, driving while disqualified, and dangerous driving.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At 10.15pm on Monday 10 October police stopped a car on the A34 Wilmslow. As officers approached the vehicle it made off. Officers followed the car onto the A6 in Levenshulme. The car collided with a pedestrian and came to a stop. The pedestrian is believed to have minor injuries.
