Man, 22, arrested for murder after woman killed in horror triple stabbing

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was killed and two others were seriously hurt in a horror triple stabbing in Gorton.

Emergency crews raced to the scene of the incident on Barnard Road in Gorton at around 11.20pm last night (Sunday). Police had received 'numerous calls' from concerned members of the public.

Armed police arrived on the scene, as well as paramedics, and found three people had been stabbed. These were a 17-year-old girl, a 43-year-old woman and 64-year-old man, Greater Manchester Police said.

Tragically, the woman died on the scene as a result of her injuries. The girl and man are in hospital with 'life-threatening injuries'.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. Detectives believe the suspect was 'known to the victims' and that the incident was 'isolated'.

The man is in custody for questioning. This morning, a police scene remains in place on Barnard Road with a cordon in place across the street.

Three forensic tents are in place - with two outside a house and one on the street. Forensic officers have been pictured scouring the scene for evidence.

Detective Superintendent Toby Facey said: "We understand that the local community and further afield across Greater Manchester will be rightly shocked and concerned after waking up and hearing this tragic news this morning. Our thoughts remain with those affected and their loved ones at this difficult time.

"We are doing all we can to support them. Within minutes of the call being made, our officers were at the scene and an arrest had been made.

"An investigation has been launched and we are in the very early stages of our enquiries. We have had detectives on the ground who have been working throughout the night
