Malik Tillman 'nears' Rangers transfer as Bayern Munich star set for Ibrox switch

Europa League finalists Rangers are on the verge of landing wanted Bayern Munich star Malik Tillman on loan, according to a report.

The 20-year-old is a USA international and has made four appearances for the Bayern first team after starring at academy level. And he is now closing in on a switch to Ibrox after Gio van Bronckhorst identified him as a player he wanted to work with. The attacking midfielder has been linked with a host of clubs to gain experience with away from the Allianz Arena but it's Rangers who are poised to strike, reports the Glasgow Times.

Rangers have been active in recent weeks with Antonio Colak, Tom Lawrence and Rabbi Matondo heading to Ibrox ahead of the new Premiership season. Van Bronckhorst's need for options in the final third comes after Joe Aribo joined Southampton and star pair Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos entering the final year of their contracts.

The Rangers boss admitted he and sporting director Ross Wilson have been working away on further additions but they also face a fight to keep rising defender Calvin Bassey amid interest from Ajax and Brighton.

The Ibrox side kick off their Premiership campaign against Livingston in a fortnight before they crunch Champions League qualifiers in August. Rangers will find out their European opponents on Monday.
