Malik Tillman and the Rangers transfer roadblock HE set with 'heart not at Ibrox' after Bayern Munich loan

Former Rangers loanee Malik Tillman did not want a permanent transfer to Ibrox following his return to Bayern Munich.

That is according to pundit Stephen McGinn who reckons the playmaker was central to the collapse of a return to the Scottish Premiership from the Bundesliga side - despite the Light Blues holding a £5.8million option to buy in the loan agreement. Rangers had agreed to insert a clause into loan deal last season which allowed the German giants holding an option to buy him back for £9million should they trigger the permanent deal.

However, the agreement was scrapped by Bayern leading to the the Ibrox coffers being boosted by £1million in compensation and a percentage of any future sale - with speculation that the USA international could make a move to the English Premier League this summer instead. Tillman's season was brought to an abrupt end through injury, and he returned to his parent club.

He jetted back to Scotland to collect his PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award and was coy over his future after picking up the gong. He is now ramping up his fitness in Munich with the Bundesliga champions before the new campaign.

McGinn told The Go Radio Football Show that it was good business - because Tillman appeared to be standing in the way of a deal: "It sounds like great business, in terms of having that options if they want to do it but they are compensated if the option is taken out of their hands.

"It's a good bit of business, especially when it seemed the player's heart wasn't at Ibrox. He has bags of potential.

"But did I see enough in him that he would go and grab these Celtic games and cup finals by the scruff of the neck to say 'you need to pay £5million'? I'm not so sure. They move on and it's
