Major disruption on Greater Manchester trains amid 'emergency incident'
Emergency crews are responding to an incident between two major train stations in Greater Manchester this morning.
The incident is on the railway tracks between Wigan North Western/Wigan Wallgate and Salford Crescent. All lines are currently blocked between Manchester Piccadilly and Wigan.
Trains are being cancelled or revised, according to National Rail, with Northern services affected. The disruption is expected to last until at least 10am.

National Rail said: "The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Wigan North Western / Wigan Wallgate and Salford Crescent. As all lines are currently closed, trains may be cancelled or revised.
"Disruption is expected until 10:00."
Manchester Piccadilly said in a post on X: Emergency services are managing an incident between Wigan Wallgate and Manchester. Please check @nationalrailenq for travel updates."
Northern said: "Services between Wigan Wallgate and Swinton (Manchester) are currently being disrupted due to the emergency services dealing with an incident."
