Maik Nawrocki breaks Celtic silence over sideline suffering and insists he never doubted transfer

Maik Nawrocki is adamant he’s never once doubted his move to Celtic.

The Polish defender had to endure a frustrating start to his career at Parkhead after being struck down by a serious hamstring injury. It’s hard enough for any player to go over four months without a game. But, for a 22-year-old living in a new country at a new club, it could have made the bitter situation even harder to handle.

Nawrocki could have been forgiven for having dark days alone where he wondered if even making the move to Glasgow was worthwhile. But such doubts or feelings of regret never entered the centre-back’s mind at any point. Nawrocki doesn't regret a thing as he explained: “I think it’s normal to think about that, but every time I spoke with someone about it, I never doubted my decision to come here.

“I feel I fit in here perfectly. I knew myself that it would only be a matter of time before I was back playing. I was always confident that in the end it would go well for me.

“There were other decisions I could have made, but I am very happy to be here, with all the people, and the situation was just something no-one could have predicted. Sometimes that happens in football. And I never doubted or regretted my decision to come here.”

Nawrocki had support from a variety of outlets both inside and outside of the club as he worked his way back and used his time of absence positively.

He continued: “When the injury came I spoke to my family and friends and tried not to think too much about it. I just focused on the chance I would get in future and in the end everything happened as I thought it would.
