Maidstone United sign former Watford and Crawley right-back David Sesay from Eastbourne Borough
Maidstone United have made their second summer signing.
Right-back David Sesay has joined from fellow National League South club Eastbourne Borough.
Sesay appeared in both league games against the Stones last season - George Elokobi’s side winning 3-1 at the Gallagher before losing the return 1-0 at Priory Lane.
But he wasn’t involved in last month’s play-off semi-final which United won 2-1 thanks to a last-minute Aaron Blair goal.
Sesay came through the youth ranks at Watford, signing his first professional contract at Vicarage Road.
He went on to join Crawley, winning the young player-of-the-season award in his first year with the League 2 club.
The defender dropped into non-league with Barnet and also played for Wealdstone and Weymouth before joining Eastbourne.
Sesay can’t wait to get started at Maidstone.
“I’ve played here a few times and the atmosphere’s crazy,” he told Stones TV.
“The fans play a big part here.
“Being on the other side of it was a little bit intimidating in a way.
“I’m looking forward to being on the other side now.
“I’m playing for all the fans and I can’t wait to get going.”
Sesay, who can also play left-back, describes himself as a versatile player.
He likes to get up and down but stressed: “I’m a defender first.”
John Gilbert became Maidstone’s first summer signing when he joined from Slough last week.
