Maguire paired with Nordqvist again for Saturday's foursomes

Leona Maguire has been once against paired with vice-captain Anna Nordqvist in the foursomes as Team Europe aim to whittle down USA's lead on Saturday in the Solheim Cup.

The Cavan woman was integral to the hosts fightback at Finca Cortesin in Spain on the opening day of competition, battling back from 4-0 down in the morning foursomes to finish the day 5-3 down.

Maguire’s chip in at the last secured one of those badly-needed points in a delicately poised fourball.

European captain Suzann Pettersen has, similar to Friday, opted to put the 27-year-old alongside Nordqvist in the second match on Saturday morning (7.22am Irish time) and will be hoping for a better result second time around.

The pair birdied the 16th and 17th to keep their match against Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz alive, but they were unable to birdie the par-five 18th as the visitors won a foursomes session 4-0 for the first time in the event’s history.

Emily Pedersen, who claimed a hole in one at the 12th today, is alongside in-form Carlota Ciganda in the opening match when they take on Lilia Vu and Jennifer Kupcho at 7.10am.

Georgia Hall and Celine Boutier will take on Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz at 7.34am, while the final foursome tees off 12 minutes later when Maja Stark and Linn Grant team up against Danielle Kang and Andrea Lee.
