M66 traffic as air ambulance lands and fire crews descend after crash
A large emergency services presence descended on the M66 following a crash.
The northbound slip road was closed this morning (October 30) following a collision at junction three, in Pilsworth.
Eyewitnesses said around four fire engines were in attendance, along with several police vehicles and an air ambulance.
One witness told the Manchester Evening News: "Just seen an awful M66 crash northbound.

"Air ambulance and tons of emergency services - two cars both on the grass verge at side of motorway badly damaged and one upside down."
There was heavy traffic on Pilsworth Road near to the M66 following the collision, according to Google traffic data.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: "At around 11.20am this morning (Thursday, October 30), three fire engines from Heywood, Ramsbottom and Rochdale fire stations and the enhanced rescue unit from Ashton-under-Lyne fire station attended a crash involving two vehicles on the M66 northbound slip road before junction two.
"Firefighters arrived quickly and helped to remove one casualty from a vehicle before transferring them into the care of North West Ambulance Service.
"Another casualty was assessed on the scene by North West Ambulance Service. Crews departed after roughly 30 minutes in attendance."
The incident cleared at around 12.30pm.
