M66 shut as overturned vehicle leaves motorway closed
A busy Greater Manchester motorway is closed to traffic in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday, January 15) after a vehicle overturned. The M66 northbound carriageway is shut at Junction 4 (Simister Island).
The closure was first reported at around 1.35pm. Traffic is being diverted via the junction's slip road.
Inrix, the traffic data company, said: "M66 Northbound closed due to overturned vehicle at J4 M60 J18 (Simister Island)."
The closure remains in place as of 2.30am.
