Live M60 traffic updates as 'serious incident' leaves motorway closed
The M60 motorway in Greater Manchester is closed in the early hours of Saturday morning (January 25) due to a 'serious accident'. Emergency services are at the scene of the incident on the clockwise carriageway near Junction 12.
The incident was first reported at around 12.40am. A diversion route is now in place.
A National Highways spokesperson said: "The M60 clockwise is now closed within J12. Traffic must take the M602 eastbound to J2 and turn around to re-join the M60 clockwise at J12. No significant delays on approach."
North West Motorway Police confirmed a 'serious incident' is ongoing on the carriageway.
Inrix, the traffic data company, said: "M60 clockwise closed due to serious accident at J12 M62 J12 (Eccles Interchange)."

The closure is now reduced to being within Junction 12. A National Highways spokesperson said:
