M6 crash LIVE traffic updates as three lanes shut and police issue warning
Drivers are being warned to expect delays throughout the morning following a crash on the M6. Three lanes of traffic are currently closed on the northbound carriageway between junctions 31 and 31A near Preston, Lancashire.
The incident is affecting drivers heading north from Greater Manchester ahead of rush hour, with queues tailing back to Leyland at junction 28. Traffic officers and police are at the scene, with drivers being urged to find an alternative route.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: "Lanes one, two and three M6 Northbound between junctions 31 and 31A are closed due to a road traffic collision. They will be closed for some time.
"Traffic will be heavy and slow moving. We’d recommend looking for an alternative route."
A National Highways north west spokesperson added: "Three (of four) lanes closed on the M6 in Lancashire northbound between J31 Preston and J31A Ribbleton due to a collision. National Highways Traffic Officers are on scene, thank you for your patience."

Lancashire Police says the crash involved six vehicles at around 6.51am today.
One person suffered minor injuries.
Drivers on the M61 north are facing delays of 95 minutes, according to Inrix.
On the M6 north, queues are around 65 minutes.
Google data shows long queues on the M6, and delays on the M61, approaching the scene.
