M62 traffic LIVE with six-mile queues and delays of over an hour after car overturns

Long delays are building on a stretch of the M62 this afternoon after a car overturned in a crash.

Two lanes have been shut off on the westbound side of the motorway between junction 22 for Rishworth Moor and junction 21 near Rochdale. A car 'came to rest on its roof' after being involved in a crash, National Highways said.

Traffic is currently queuing for around five miles up to the closure. There are delays of around 45 minutes.

In a post on X, National Highways said: "2 lanes (of 3) are closed on the #M62 westbound between J22 #Denshaw and J21 #Rochdale for a collision involving a car that has come to rest on its roof.

"Delays of 45 minutes and approx. 5 miles of congestion on approach to the incident, stretching back to J23 for #Huddersfield."

National Highways have in the last few minutes issued a fresh update. There remains six miles of queues approaching the incident but the opening of the middle lane has seen the time it is taking to pass go down to about half an hour
