M61 driver 'attacked with hammer' after crash on motorway
A man has been arrested after a motorist was 'attacked with a hammer' following a collision on the M61.
Greater Manchester Police said they received calls 'regarding a motorist being attacked on the M61' on Wednesday morning (March 20). The force said the victim was located 'safe and well' but stated they had been 'attacked with a hammer' following a road traffic collision.
Officers from GMP and Lancashire Police arrested a person on the M61 and will bring him back for questioning in Manchester, the added.

In a tweet, GMP traffic wrote: "This morning calls were recieved regarding a motorist being attacked on the M61. Victim was found safe and well and stated that he had been attacked with a hammer following a RTC.
"With help from @LancsPolice the offender has been arrested M61 on his return to GMP."
